Advanced Metaphysics 101

Actually, Laurel, nobody "needs" to be corrected. They know when they're acting up, or will soon find out.

Poor behavior within your proximity, however, is always a tip-off that someone else might correct what they're thinking, saying, and doing.

Advanced Metaphysics 101,
    The Universe

Just as good behavior within your proximity, Laurel, is just one more cause to celebrate your savoir faire.

Just say "No" -

It's like you're a fabulously complicated jigsaw puzzle piece, Laurel, with stunning colors, wildly serrated edges, oceans of emotion, mountains of possibilities, worlds of talent, and complex energies, but for as long as you see yourself as just human, you'll never quite know where you fit in.

Just say "No" -
    The Universe

You're just another part of me, Laurel, and knowing this, all else starts to make sense.

Every fear is a gift

What do you now fear, Laurel?

How will you use this?

You're welcome,
    The Universe

Every fear is a gift, Laurel, though every gift needs unwrapping. "Oh look, it's me, only more!"

The stuff people cling to

Often, Laurel, having what you want is a function of letting go of what you have.

If you know what I mean.

    The Universe

Odd, huh, Laurel, the stuff people cling to?

Happily-ever-after

"Happily-ever-after," I'm happy to tell you, Laurel, begins with "happily"... in more ways than one.

So the next time a loved one sets out to find it, maybe have them consider that the trail may turn frosty cold, if it's not set out upon happily.

There, that should get you started. I mean, them.

Tallyho,
    The Universe

To be or not to be happy, Laurel, really is the question. As if it needed to be multiple choice.

Right up there with talking trees

You've done well for yourself, Laurel.

Real well.

Overshot all the forecaster's predictions.

Actually, you've thoroughly embarrassed them. Nostradamus is particularly mortified.

Tell you what, how about next time we not tell everyone you're just going to "chill out"?

You rock,
    The Universe

Don't worry, though, it's only added to your mystique. Now, Laurel, you're right up there with talking trees.

It's like one big hall of mirrors

It's like one big hall of mirrors, isn't it, Laurel?

Except, of course, that the halls of time and space reflect what you choose to think.

Like right now.

Wow -
    The Universe

Hey, Laurel, can I borrow your comb?

Sounds like a deal

With great responsibility, Laurel, comes great power.

The more you accept of the first - for your happiness, unhappiness, and all else - the more you are given of the latter.

Sounds like a deal,
    The Universe

It may help to understand, Laurel, that you needn't explain a situation in order to accept responsibility for it. Kind of like not explaining chocolate to enjoy it.

It's on me

You don't even have to know what you want, Laurel. I'll take care of that.

Just enjoy that you received another day, and the 10,000 miracles within it.

It's on me,
    The Universe

Yeah, Laurel, the "10,000" isn't literal... there are more, many more.

Coffee, tea, or a flat screen TV?

In a way, Laurel, life itself tracks a person's generosity, much like an airline might track frequent flyer miles. The more you give, the more you earn, the higher you fly, and the further you go.

Coffee, tea, or a flat screen TV?
    The Universe

The one thing about generosity, Laurel, is that you can't ever overdo it.

An old soul is not an old soul

An old soul is not an old soul by virtue of age, Laurel, but for their patience, self-measure, and happy tears for no apparent reason.

Hmmmmm,
    The Universe

They also happy dance, Laurel, with no apparent rhythm.

Today, just do a little bit

Today, just do a little bit, Laurel, so that I can do a lot of bit.

That's how it works.

Huge love,
    The Universe

I'm watching, Laurel. In fact, I never once take my eyes off of you...

Stretch, stretch, and stretch

The higher your perspective, Laurel, the cooler your life.

Highly,
    The Universe

Stretch, stretch, and stretch, Laurel, to see every perspective... and nothing shall keep you from joy.

Zillions upon zillions

Of course, these are crazy times to be alive, Laurel, when virtually anything could happen next, fortunes are made and lost overnight, friends come and go, and lovers glimpse eternity between fear and ecstasy.

That's why zillions upon zillions of souls, more than you will ever know, said, "No wa-y-y-y, José."

And it's why a few brazen billion, said, "Whoooo-Hooooooooooooooo!"

You all have so much in common,
    The Universe

Go, Laurel, Go! Virtually anything can happen next... it's just up to you.

Now doesn't that answer everything?

A philosophical journey from here to there...

Laurel, do you think that if $10,000,000 were to be suddenly deposited into your checking account, that over the following months and years you'd have fewer and fewer challenges? Or do you think, perhaps, that your challenges would simply evolve and change?

Right, evolve and change.

And do you think that with your extra $10 million, you'd gradually be presented with more and more opportunities to be happy? Or do you think, perhaps, that your opportunities would simply evolve and change?

Right, evolve and change.

Now doesn't that answer everything?

Beeb, beeb -
    The Universe

Abundance rocks, Laurel, but it's relative. Moreover, today you have as many opportunities to be happy as you ever will - 100 pink fairy ladies driving Cadillac Eldorados, or not... That was you, right??

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

It's perfectly OK,

Did you know, Laurel, that it's perfectly OK, even highly ideal, to claim all is well amongst doubt and confusion? To be happy in spite of challenges? To laugh at problems? Dance without a partner? Sing without a rhyme? Talk to inanimate objects?

Oddly, most don't.

You so rock,
    The Universe

Habits worth cultivating, Laurel. Go for it.

Old Souls

Baby souls see what's wrong.

Young souls see what's right.

And old souls, Laurel, know better.

I know you,
    The Universe

And I love knowing so much, Laurel.

... it's still all possible.

What you can do with your life, Laurel, has little to do with what's going on in the world.

And everything to do with what you see as possible.

Grrr-r-r,
    The Universe

And Laurel, it's still all possible.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Yes, you can fix "stupid."

What if, Laurel, from now on and forevermore, people stopped using the word "evil" and replaced it with "ignorance"?

Yeah, less fear, more better; global transformation.

Let's,
    The Universe

Evil, on its own, does not exist, Laurel, and yes, you can fix "stupid."

If you were able to look back

If you were able to look back at your most brilliant successes, stunning comebacks, amazing catches, and smokin' ideas, Laurel, and you were to find that virtually all of them seemed to materialize out of thin air, when you least expected them, and that they had exceeded even your greatest expectations at the time, how excited would you be about the new year and whatever else I've got up my sleeve?

Hubba, hubba -
    The Universe

If I've ever helped you before, Laurel, don't you think I can do it again... and again... and again... ad infinitum? Actually, it ought to be even easier next time, with your new saunter.

Stranger than fiction

Laurel, have you ever seen a complete stranger across a room, street, or hallway, and sent them a silent, "I love you," just for the good it might do?

I have.

But then, to me, they're not really strangers.

Then again, neither are they to you.

Stranger than fiction,
    The Universe

There are no accidents, Laurel, no coincidences, and no strangers.

Why not just celebrate

Dwelling on the unimportant, stressing on the unintended, and freaking over the unknown, Laurel, simply doesn't work... and are a bit like lighting a match in a dark room to make sure no one accidentally sprinkled any gunpowder on your bicycle, kept under the stairs, near the back porch, in January.

Actually, some of that wasn't really important, but hopefully it distracted from any stigma you may have attached to freaking over the unknown.

You're so adorable,
    The Universe

Why not just celebrate that you're alive, Laurel, every single day? After celebrating that you don't need a bike to get email, in January
